It’s very common when doing this work to get a really great result and increased settling. This then sends signals of increased safety in the system, and then — BAM! The next layer of activation is able to surface. This is a normal phenomenon in the trauma healing world. We get more regulated, we feel better, we build more capacity, and then the next layer (which is often more intense and more unknown than the stress experiences we started out with) emerges and makes itself known.
