I am still repeating audios and working through the labs and am looking forward to joining the next round. I have never expected this. Everything you say in advance is so true, about how to work with this program and titration titration titration is my new mantra. 🙂
I have always known that I had an intense childhood, but 2 years ago, I remembered a traumatic summer when I was just 2 years old. I was feeling kinda down (I have been depressed before) and I felt a strong impulse to just ‘ sit with it’, well, lay with it, in the bath. With closed eyes and in a warm comfortable bath, black and white images came to mind seeing a basement and me wanting to get out but couldn’t. (I am writing this not to share my trauma but I find it so very fascinating how trauma works and related a lot to how you talk about it in SBSM) All of a sudden I remembered it all, well, most parts and I knew what happened 41 years ego. Knowing that memories can change, I fact- checked my niece who was partially in these memories. She confirmed it all and gave extra info. Things fell into place. Thats why I have always been tired. My system was suppressing this. But, now what, right?
I have worked through soooo much and learned so much (polyvagal trainings, therapy, trauma informed yoga teacher trainings) This memory was new content for me to ‘ work with’ (I thought) and I was just exploring IFS (internal family systems) at that time. I started working with my parts all by myself and that kind of backfired. (managers got mad probably) Then I joined SBSM. Not so much out of hope to work with this anymore, at that time I was leaving it for what it was, just wanting to return to education again.
This training helped me so much. It goes beyond words. A few changes:
-Eating differently: I was always hungry. Especially while travelling. This is changing. I can also feel when my stomach is full now!!Â
-Drinking less alcohol 🙂
-Listening better to my impulse to go to the toilet. I have a habit of always holding my pee. I feel the impulse but ignore it. Probably trauma related because I can remember wetting myself when I was really scared thinking I was about to die.Â
-Drinking coffee later in the morning, instead of right when I wake up, is such a big game changer for my kidneys/adrenals!!!!!Â
-Feeling de-freezing but also a mix of something else because I am ‘doing’ a lot now. I am not procrastinating a lot anymore, at the same time, I have to remind myself to also rest haha. The audios of SBSM  are very very soothing. I listen to them a lot.Â
-Better sleep, less panic attacks feeling I was about to die when falling a sleep.
My healing journey started years ago with a Vinyasa Yoga teacher training, and now has evolved into much small movements and paying attention in small ways. It has become simpler but with sooo much more ‘ results’ ! (Love Feldenkrais)
Your videos have become resources to soothe and I am taking better care of myself in small ways. My kidneys are very happy with that.
Thank You Thank You Thank You. There is sooo much nuance and depth in SBSM. Sooo happy I signed up.
PS- I would like to add something to that. I have done several modules and trainings about the nervous system, and have read many books for my work as yoga therapist / teacher. There was a moment of doubt before I signed up for SBSM. “Another training Eve, really. You know this stuff. Your body knows.”Â
The alumni part makes this different: not ‘another training module’ for a week or month(s), but for as long as you want. It sounded to good to be true, haha. So I checked it by emailing you. Getting a quick and clear answer made me sign up for the training. I gave teacher training for a few years which made me a bit skeptical about the popular way of healing you see nowadays, but Iwas directly impressed with the content of this programme!
This training is perfect for if you are new with ‘all this nervous system stuff’, but also for if you already know the (polyvagal) theory! So many blind spots were addressed in SBSM. Connecting dots on a different level. Slowly rewiring by titrating.
Irene speaks in a very calm, clear way and addresses in a very ‘safe way’ – predictability, repeating, reminding and a lot of space to digest. Her team is always there to help, to answer, to hold space during the training calls. Also very nice to learn from Seth. Deep stuff made very accessible.
You can find many things in books and online. But it is not so complete and in depth, made clear as SBSM. I love that I now have a library that I use as a resource, to learn, to practice and to heal.
