ONLINE SOMATIC EXPERIENCING GROUP SESSIONS

THE POWER
OF GROUPS.

Groups hold a special power. And when we combine individual support and group intention – as we will in this unique program – we dramatically increase the effectiveness and potency of the work we do together. As a result, transformation happens.

In her recent book, ‘The Power of Eight’, Lynne McTaggart discovered through rigorous testing that the power of group intention increases exponentially with eight participants.

To tap into the healing power of groups and to make personalized nervous system work more available, I’m offering a special group opportunity to experience Somatic Experiencing sessions led by my husband and colleague, Seth Lyon.

“It was a gift to connect with Seth and the other SBSM’ers in this way! Seth held space and guided each of us in such a skillful and graceful way that I was both moved and blown away each time we met. I saw powerful transformation in each and every person in the group and received SO much more than I paid for. I loved being part of the first Pod so much that I’ve signed up to do it again!” ~Pod participant

HOW DOES
IT WORK?

Hey all, Seth here.

Our group of eight will come together every other week over the course of three months.

When we meet, each group member will receive 15 minutes of individual work, with group sessions lasting a total of two hours. I have found with my online clients that 15 minutes is the time needed for one solid piece of work.

While each individual is in session, the rest of the group will hold intention for the current client. What’s amazing about this kind of group intention is that we have found that therapeutic results actually extend just as much to the people holding intention as to the person receiving the work, especially if that group consists of at least 8 people. So the group intention is an integral part of the work and benefits everybody.

Also, by attuning to the current client, POD participants have reported that they end up doing their own version of the work that the client is receiving. The result of this is that each meeting ends up being a two hour session for everyone, but with the freedom for everyone to titrate involvement by turning off their camera or sound for a bit, or walking around, orienting, etc. when not in their 15-minute window.

I will also be moderating a private Facebook group just for that Pod of people to ask follow-up questions and share their experience in between sessions, and this Facebook group will stay open after the Pod is over so members can stay connected.

“And that’s the most astonishing revelation of all: people who intend for others, see their own lives transform and heal.”

~Lynne McTaggart

WHERE
AND WHEN?

Each person joins from the comfort of their own living space. Please ensure that you have privacy for the duration of each session. Unless you have a quiet office and can ensure no interruptions, please do not attend these sessions while at work.

We will be meeting online using Zoom – a free app for Mac, PC, or smartphoneYou must have an internet connection that is fast enough for decent quality on Zoom calls. If you are not sure that your connection is fast enough, please test it out on a Zoom call or Skype call with a friend, and make sure they can see and hear you clearly. If you don’t have a Zoom account, you can sign up for a free account by visiting the Zoom website.

PLEASE NOTE. It’s important that we’re able to hear and see YOU on the calls. Being able to hear and see Irene clearly on past live calls in SBSM does not necessarily mean your internet is fast enough for us to hear and see you clearly. Please test out your connection with a friend if you have any doubt about your connection quality.

The Pod will meet six times (once every two weeks), over the course of three months.

Very important! There is tremendous power in YOUR presence, and when we join our collective presence in groups of 8, something akin to miracles can happen. So please only sign up for this experience if you are SURE that you can attend for the entire duration of each session during the following times. Also, please do not plan any big travel by plane (or some other form of transport subject to delays beyond your control) on the day before, or of, the Pod meeting.

Seth is one of the very few teachers and practitioners I know who consistently maintains a deeply respectful tone and language. He can consistently create space without creating a sense of overwhelm or crowding, and he inhabits a deep compassion that does not seem agitated or excited. The way it comes across to me, vs. other teachers, is much calmer, more integrated, and consistent. He never once teetered into being “right” which – in my experience – is truly a rarity.

I really value the co-regulation and the role modeling Seth provides, as well as the effective ways he worked with my questions and natural tendencies. I also gain a lot working in small groups like this one; there are so many ways people experience things and it opens up everything to be able to share these experiences.

Last thing I will mention about the group that could be useful for others who may be intimidated… On the continuum of introverted and extroverted tendencies — it is great for both.

My own introversion tendencies love that I can sit quietly and safely for most of the time and learn from others’ experience. Absolute bliss! And yet I do then need to stretch into sharing and really being there with the rest of the group. And for those with extraversion tendencies — they get their time to shine. The stretch for them would be to sit quietly, listen, and practice internal integration for the remainder of the time.

As for the learning and practicing I’ve done during and since the Pod, Seth’s easy but surprising suggestions for me were fantastic. His willingness to teach some material that is not included in SBSM was also terrific and I continue to integrate all of it! I found that working with Seth is a wonderful natural evolution to the work of the 12 weeks of SBSM. – Erin (Pink) Mosley, erinmosley.com
